Goodbyes

Tenuous touches in the airport lobby,
Enveloped in hugs and painful kisses
Where lovers say their goodbyes,
Soon to be separated
By a too vast sky.

The world is beautifully infinite,
And yet its vastness is cruel sometimes,
When it curses two people
To be lonely, longing for each other.

So the story goes,
Certain travels bring us
Joy and pain – little needles
Remind us we are alive…

But love, nonetheless,
Can bear anything
Can grow through
Space and time
And can survive
Any terrifying,
Cruel, beautiful, distance.
